Question
QUESTION: This is going to sound rather strange,
I have mild shortsightednes, but ive got this weird ability to make my eyes go blurrier on demand and then clear, i tend to do this more when im daydreaming or quite tired, its especially noticable when ive got my glasses on
is this normal and what are my eyes doing when this happens?i made my eyes go like taht once when i was in the opticians on their autorefrecator machine and it gave me a really high reading and after the subjective bit, the doctor lowered the prescription . is doing that blurry thing with my eyes a signal taht i could be more short sighted than i already am?
ANSWER: Dear Daisy,
you are probably able to do this because the eyes use muscles to make things crisper.
However, not being able to examine you, you must annually check your eyes with an optometrist.
This will determine if you are shortsighted enough to require to use glasses.
However, autorefractometer is not the ideal way to check your numbers, please check them in an eye clinic.

QUESTION: thanks for the reply, But is it a normal thing to be able to do, as it seems ratehr strange I can make my eyesight go more blurry and then clearer through conscious control. The optician has already stated im short sighted many years ago, so do you think that it has something to do with that? thanks in advance!
Answer
Dear Daisy,
one can do this naturally, anyone can...if I have undesrtood you correctly.
By squinting one can make things sharper, some get blurred vision and this is due to eye muscle control. It may not have anything to do with Myopia which a specific number for distances.
