Problems adjusting to new RX

Question
I have had a recent prescription change as below:

Old prescription:

R: -3.00

L: -3.00 -0.25 155

New prescription:

R: -2.50 -0.25 175

L: -2.50 -0.50 160

I have been wearing my new glasses for a week now, and they still feel odd.  My right eye feels totally fine, but my left eye feels slightly "pulled", and almost a bit hazy, although if I close the right eye, I can see clearly!  It's only looking with both eyes that feels odd.

The thing is, I had virtually the same problem last time my prescription changed, but I also had sinus problems at the time so put the difficulties down to that.  I did have my RX re-checked, and my glasses were made correctly.  My eyes did eventually settle.

I'm pretty confident that my prescription is correct, as I was also checked again by my contact lens fitter. Could it just be that my brain has a hard time adjusting to a new prescription?  It was the left eye I had a problem with previously, and not the right one which seems a little odd!  It just seems coincidental that I'm having the same problems again.

Answer
There are definitely people who just have a more difficult time adjusting to a new Rx.  I recommend you tell the doctor this at your next exam and they may well give you changes in smaller increments so you don't have so much trouble.  Also, as they do the exam they can also be on the lookout for any other explanation.

If your glasses are not comfortable in another week or so, you should go back to the doctor and tell him or her your problem.  There is no sense struggling with glasses if you are not comfortable after the initial adjustment period.
