Question
In past couple of years my eyes have become very pale & has developed brown patches in the white area. As a result every second person points out the same & feel that I am suffering with jaundice, though that is not the case. However my doctor says its pigmentation & nothing can be done to treat the same. Since I have acute asthma & develop allergies soon, she says this explains the case for eyes too. But I have had asthma since I was 3 years old, eye problems I have recently developed in the past few years.
The corners of my eyes are particularly turning dark brown.
Is there no treatment for this, atleast if not cure for the current patches, any preventation for stopping them further.
Answer
Dear Kamakshi,
Unfortunatley, this needs an examination to understand the exact nature of the pigmentation.
Since you have already done so with an eye doctor, it does not seem to be pathological which requires treatment.
Brownish discoloration is common amongst outdoor people, some due to hormonal changes in women etc.
The examinaing doctor can advise better if anything can be done cosmetically as well.
If in Mumbai, we shall be happy to examine and advise.
