Question
i went to my eye doctor to order new contacts and to get new lenses put in my glasses. after they changed the lenses, my right eye vision was terrible. my contacts are still the same rx and are fine.they checked the lense and it was the right rx. my doctor checked my eye and didnt see anything wrong with it, but my vision had changed in the one eye. my last eye exam was only six months ago. they ordered a new lense, but he talked about having an MRI. what would cause my vision to change that much in one eye that fast. i have astimatism
Answer
Well, that is strange. I take it you mean the new glasses are blurry in the right eye, while the contact lenses are fine in both eyes. Since you say you have astigmatism, it may be related to that. Sometimes when someone only has a small amount of astigmatism, we don't put the astigmatism correction into the contact lenses because, let's just say the contact lens prescriptions are not as exact as the glasses.
So if your contact lenses do not contain correction for astigmatism ( you can tell this because they will be called "toric" lenses and the "power" written on the box will be longer. i.e. a toric Rx would look something like: -3.50-1.25 x 180 while a non toric contact lens Rx would be more like just: -3.50) it could be that when they put the astigmatism correction into the glasses, 1) you are not used to it because it is not in the contact lenses and/or 2) it is different from what your old glasses had.
If the new glasses they are making for you have the same problem, ask the doctor or her staff to consider reducing or eliminating the astigmatism part of the glasses Rx if your contact lenses are not toric.
Now, if your contact lenses are toric, and do correct the astigmatism, then it could be that the astigmatism correction in the glasses does not correspond exactly to the correction in the contact lenses. But I feel your doctor would have been able to determine this at your return visit, so long as she knew what contact lenses you are currently wearing. (I was not clear on whether you got a new contact lens Rx from this doctor at this visit, even though there was no change.)
It is probably not so much that your eyes have changed so much in six months ( you said yourself the contact lenses are fine) as some mismatch between the glasses optics and the optics you are used to in your contact lenses.
