Hemorrage

Question
Hello, I had the LASIK surgery 2 years ago and I have had 2 Subconjunctival Hemmorage in the same eye 2 times in the last month. This time, it has left a small red blood line where the "C" incision was made. Should I be concerned?

Answer
Dear Carly,

This cannot be linked to LASIK (most unlikely) as the healing is usually completed in 3 months time.

The area that the LASIK is done is on the transparent part of the eye called the cornea (lies above the coloured portion). This area is bloodless.

what you must be seeing is the red line on the white part of the eye, that is where subconj hemmorhage usually takes place.

this can be a result of a trauma, rubbing of the eyes inadvertently done such that you may not rememebr, some pressure on the eye etc.

Or even high blood pressure.

Try and find the reson behind this as an acute episode as it has recurred.

A good physical check needs to be done.
