eye status

Question
Dear Sir,



my age is 32

country = Dubai

profession = Engineering



My opthamalogist give me refraction results as

Right Eye = SPH = X, CYL=-0.5 and AXIS = 98

Left eye =  SPH = X, CYL =-1.00 and AXIS is 98.



what does it mean. does the problem is recoverable? Is it sevear disorderness in eye. I am using glasses.



What are the normal valuse for abou mentioned.

HI Syed,

You have a mild astigmatism, whereby your vision is clearer in some meridians (horizontal)than others.  You prescription is called "simple myopic astigmatism."  It is very mild, not abnormal, insignificant as far as health is concerned, and not recoverable.  Using glasses should make your vision very clear although your naked eyes are pretty good too.  The 'normal' eye that sees well without glasses has no numbers for a prescription as they would all be zeros.
