Question
I've noticed white spots on the edge of my iris, in both eyes, growing and causing the eye to get red, specially near the white spot. I went to a physician to check it out and he prescribed Vigamox. It worked for a few days, the spot went away and the irritation as well. Then 2 weeks later, the spot comes back, not only that but in my other eye as well. This time along with a slight sharp stinging headache concentrated in the forehead area. I kept using the drops and it cleared up my eyes again. Trouble is now my eyesight is getting messed up. I have trouble seeing things from far during the night or in poorly lit rooms, I see things slightly double. I have a feeling that this might me something more serious than I or my physician thought. Something beyond just an eye infection. ?Any idea what this could be? ?Should I go to an eye specialist or a Neurologist maybe?
Answer
Hello Daniel,
You should see any kind of an eye doctor to have the eye examined with magnification. You probably have an irritated pinguecula or a small pterygium. As long as contact lenses aren't involved, you may need an anti-inflammatory or lubricating drop rather than an antibiotic but there is no way to guess without an exam. It is not a good idea to use the vigamox a little here and there now and then. I'm not sure how the vision or headache relates and it may be from the vigamox but that will be addressed also.
Hope that helps,
