Question
I have worn corrective lenses for nearsightedness with astigmatism since the age of 8. I am now 30 and have needed new prescriptions approximately every 2 years, always for a stronger correction. Over the past few months, I have had periods of 1-2 hours when I can see much better without my glasses, but it only lasts for a couple of hours before reverting back to my regular vision. Today, I experienced a fuzzy halo in my left field of vision, followed by a loss of peripheral vision in my left eye for 10 minutes, after which it returned to normal. Any thoughts?
Answer
Dear Amy,
Fuzzy or blurred vision which comes and goes has many possibilities which are diagnosed only after an eye examination.
In such situations guess work will not do as the causes may need to be looked into seriously.
Possibilities:
1. It is not from the eyes, but systemic, like fluctuation in blood pressure, decreased flow to the head etc
2. Dry eyes can cause fluctuations in vision
3. Allergies, Headaches, Migraines.
The causes being so varied, it is best that you visit an eye centre for determining the right direction.
Hope this helps,
