Pain above left eye

Question
I woke up this morning with pressure above/behind my left eye and it hurts to touch the crease of my eye.  It has left my eye blood shot and watery and seems to make my nose run on just the left side.  It also hurts to blink.  Pain is no more than that of sinus pressure.  I would like to know if I should see a doctor.

Answer
Hi DeAnn,

You could wait and see if any significant swelling or warmth or otherwise worsening happened.  Then for sure you'd want to see a doctor.  Otherwise you could take some aspirin or motrin and try cool compresses and see if it improves.  It sounds like you have an infection possibly involving the eyelid and may need to have it treated.  Don't wait too long to see if it is getting better because if the eyelid becomes swollen and infected it needs to be treated without delay.

Hope that helps,
