Answer
Dear Arlinda,

Many cases of past retinal detachment have been safely and successfully been treated.

For this you need a reputed and expert doctor.

If in good hands do not worry.

Cataract needs to be surgically treated as there is no medical treatment and due to the cataract the vision is going get more poor with advancing time. Also, it will get more difficult to remove if waited upon.

In today's times, the cataract when treated early have better results.

Hope this helps,

Ask your doctor to speak to your mother and address her fears, this will help.

Best,
