Pain long after eye examination

Question
I am 56 years old and had a "diabetic" eye examination done about a week ago. There were different kinds of pictures taken. I am using reading glasses for reading small print.

I had a few eye examinations done in the past, because I had a couple of prescription glasses in the past. When the last one broke I found out that a "Reader" from the drugstore works just as good for me, and I have been using that for over a year now.

After the last eye examination the doctor said all is fine, except my left eye is a bit weaker than the right one.

After the feeling of swelling was gone from my eyes, the right eye still hurts sometimes, espec. in the morning. I thought it would go away in a few days, but it did not.

Is it possible that I got too many eye drops, and that hurt my eye somehow? She put 1 drop in, and about a minute later 2 or 3 more. I had never experienced pain in my eye before.

Answer
Hi Trudy,

You didn't really describe the discomfort except to say you still have it.  I'm pretty sure it isn't from using readers or the eye drops.  It may simply be dryness (use lubricating drops-not for red eyes- during the day and apply lubricating ointment at bedtime) and go back to the doctor if it doesn't resolve in a couple of days.

Best of luck,
