Question
My mother is 55 years old, and her vision is getting increasingly bad. She recently got new glasses for driving and reading, but they are only helping a small bit. She says she feels as if she's going to fall when she walks because the ground looks "slanted". I'm wondering if that is a vision problem, or if it could be some strange form of vertigo. She was also told recently that one of her eyes was "flat". Any ideas or suggestions as to what her trouble could be? Or what we can do to fix it?
Answer
Dear Krystal,
Any local eye pathology like what you describe is 'fixable' with corrective glasses.
Firstly, please recheck her numbers. The feeling what she describes can be if using the wrong prescription.
Also, if the eye check is normal, then a good physician check before any specialist like neurlogist showul be able to help rule out other causes like vertigo, high BP etc.
Hope this helps,
Best,
