injury to an eye

Question
My brother lost his right eye during an accident. The muscles and all the nerves are still there. He can blink and when he cries, tears come from this eye. All he is missing is the from part of his eye. Someone told us that he can get an eye transplant. Is this true, possible and if so, what is the process and how can we procede forward with this?

Answer
Dear Kalia,

There is no transplant of the entire eye avilable today which works, except for the cornea.

However, from what In understand is that this must be an internal injury where the optic nerve also may be involved ? retina, so such vision loss is irreversible.
