clear cysts/blisters in both eyes

Question
Background: I have discoid lupus (suspected SLE, 4 of 11 criteria but a negative ANA titer), Graves hyperthyroidism, and I had a positive skin test for TB (I took INH for 6 months).  I am taking: Plaquenil, PTU & propranolol.

I have moderate Graves ophthalmopathy - my eyes are protruding quite a bit.

I've saw an ophthalmologist 2 weeks ago.  At that point I only had a cyst/blister in one eye and it wasn't that bad - I could see it in the mirror, but not feel it.  The doctor told me it was a minor problem.  She diagnosed me with dry eye - probably Sjogren's - and recommended eye drops and a daily eye test (a grid).

Since that appointment, I've developed a cyst in my other eye and both cysts are now so large that they get caught between my eyelids when I try to blink and my eyelids will no longer close completely.

Is there anything I can do?  My doctor takes a conservative approach because I do not have health insurance, but I don't want to take chances with my vision.

Answer
Dear Josi,

Thank you for your query.

If the cyst is in the eye lids, then it will not cause any visual symptoms or loss of vision. These are usually self limiting conditions and settle down.

Some warm compresses help.

If it is on the surface of the eye, then this needs to be taken care of by a cornea specialist.

Hope this helps,

Best,
