Blurry Vision After Removing RGP Lenses

Question
I am myopic (-9.0), astigmatic and am having a challenge with reading fine print (age 55). I've been wearing rigid gas permeable contact lenses for years.  However, in the last year, I've been having trouble getting clear vision from the RGP lenses and have gone through several pairs without success.  Now, I don't get clear distance vision from the lenses, and I find that my vision is very blurry AFTER removing the lenses and wearing my glasses.  This blurriness lasts for hours.  I have used Restasis for months to help with dry eye, and also use Xibrom in one eye for a macular pucker.  What do you think is causing this blurriness?  Is there a special kind of practitioner I should visit to get this issue resolved?  Thank you very much for any help.

Answer
Dear Eileen,

A good contact lens practioner would be able to help you with the adjustment of prescription of your lenses so that you get the best benefit for far and near.

If the bluriness is a result of some corneal issue like dry eyes, any good eye specialist or a corneal specialist can check that.

There are two issues here, one to help you with the best corrected vision for both far and near, what would suit you best and second to determine cause of the bluriness.

You may write back with what the doctors say after the check up.

Hope this helps,

Best,
