Vitreous Separation

Question
Doctor, I'm 60 years old, and lost the vision in my left eye due to a retinal detachment that would not re-attach after four vitrectomies.  Scar tissue formed and detached the retina during the recuperative period.  My question is, how soon will the vitreous separate in the right eye, and what are the odds of a retinal detachment occurring in the right eye?

Answer
GOOD NEWS:  In only about 10% of posterior vitreous (gel) detachment or separation will a retinal detachment occur, slightly higher in those who have had a R.D. in the fellow eye. be on the lookout for sudden flashes, floaters, or loss of vision in any quadrant of the field of vision. If this does occur, see a retinal specialist ASAP. Hope this helps.
