Question
Greetings Dr. Kenneth,
I recently have had new contacts for my eyes. I have been using the same solution for years and years. I believe I am actually starting to get allergic to it, because after taking out those contacts, my eyes feel weird. I've been using optifree replenish for the longest time. The reason I believe the solution may be at fault here is because when I took out the new contacts, I did not put any solution on it. I just got it out of the saline and put it in my eye and then my eyes were not as red throughout the day. But when I use the solution, my eyes were just crazy red. Does that clue us in that it's the solution, and not so much of the contact lenses? What other solution can I use if optifree is making my eyes red? Should I switch solutions or contacts? I heard somebody talking about Renu or Clear care because they contain no preservatives that is in optifree or something right? Please advise. Thank you very much.
Answer
you can try other contact lens solution if you feel the Optifree Replenish is causing redness and "weirdness". If redness goes away you were right; if it doesnt then you need to see your doctor to figure out what is causing eye irritation and redness. hope this helps you.\
