Question
Lower eyelid infection - started last April in the right eye, lower eyelid has drainage come out the tear duct, treatment cleaning eye's, using Zylet drops, clears up and comes back, now it is also in my left eyelid. I have drainage coming from my eye's during the day and my eyes water alot. Please help.
Answer
Chronic lower lid infection, especially chronic infection of the
inferior puncta and the inferior canalicular system with reflux of
mucopurulent material from the inferior puncta, may be indicative of
chronic non-bacterial infection of the canalicula with or without
nasolacrimal duct obstruction.
This probably requires irrigation of the lacrimal system to detect any
possible obstruction, cultures, and treatment with topical or oral
antimicrobials based on the sensitivities of culture results.
