Blurred vision and trails of spots...

Questions:

this might sound weird, but I am experiencing blurred vision and also these trails from dark spots when looking into the distance. When I look at something, I also see dark spots on the sides of my vision. As I turn my head, the sopts move with me, kinda making trails. (This is not drug related!!)
I am planning to see a doctor, but wanted to know if this sounded familiar to anyone.
Thanks so much!

Answer:

If you are severay nearsighted or over 60 it sounds like posterior vitreous detachment. Very, very common in those 2 cases. You should see a doctor just to make sure it didn't cause a retinal tear. (but I see you are going) Floaters and the vitreous can cause all kind of weird things with the eye! But luckily in 90% of the cases it's nothing (and if it IS, it is a tear and can be zaped with a lazer) you doctor witll probably examine you, then tell you to come back in one month.

Definitely does not sound like glaucoma or macular degeneration or anything like that. Did you tell your doctor the symptoms? Most of the time they like to see you right away to make sure the retina didn't tear. Even if it IS torn, you can walk around like that for months, a year even! But it's best to get it checked out ASAP,the sooner the better because the earlier a tear is found, the easier it is to correct. with your age and vision I can't see how it would be posterior vitreous detachment, but some vitreous could have just pulled off the retina just like that... (the pulling of the vitrous off the retina is what would cause a tear if it pulled too hard) - oh, is the blurred vision over the entire eye, or is it just in a little spot?? If it's over the entire eye, then forget what I said about vitreous pulling off the retina, that wouldn't cause your entire eye to become blurry. Did it happen suddenly??
