Question
At a routine eye appointment, my optometrist told me that there was a 30% drop in my vision, but the prescription wasn't that different. He has directed me to see my PCP and I have made that appointment. While waiting for the appointment with my PCP, some questions keep going through my mind that I am hoping you can answer. First, how can there be a drop in my vision but the prescription wouldn't be that different? Second, I haven't had any problems seeing, wouldn't I have noticed problems seeing with that much of a drop? Third, I had a tremendous migraine at the time of my exam. Could that have caused the test results to be inaccurate? Thank you so very much for taking the time to read and answer these questions.
Answer
Dear jean,
Sometimes an increase in prescription or pwoer does not make one see better, hence one tends to lean on a diagnosis of drop in vision arising from inside the eye and not due to powers or spectacle errors.
A good dilated eye check up will determine the cause in drop of vision.
Hope this helps,
