Retinal tears and PVD

Question
I recently had surgery for retinal tears, 3 weeks ago.  My vision in that eye got worse so I need a new Rx (I am severely myopic).  My surgeon told me that he wants the lattice lasered in other eye.  Will that change the vision in my other eye?  Can I go get a new Rx now? Or should I wait?

Answer
Dear Nancy,

The indication for retinal laser is very specific if there are any weak areas or degeneration in the retina. The vision after laser may be blurred and may change, usually temporarily, but not doing the laser poses a more serious risk to having complete or partial loss of vision.

A good retinal specialist will be able to guide you well, so if already under the care of one...you should not be worried.
