Red eyes/soreness

Question
I have been wearing contacts for years, the kind you take out daily. About three weeks ago, I had to sleep with them in on an overnight trip, and then two weeks ago slept with them in again (so twice within a 8 day period). I left them out for a day to let my eyes breathe both times, but when I put the contacts back in, within the day my eyes were more bloodshot then any eyes I have ever seen. I left them out for several more days but every time I try to put them in my eyes turn red within the hour, and they were very sore to touch. Even now I have been wearing glasses a week and they are still a bit tender if I touch them with my eyes closed. Have I possible damaged my cornea in some way?

Answer
Dear Stephanie,

Possibility that you have a bad allergic reaction or infection.

Firstly, do not use the same lenses as they could be the cause.

Secondly, you must not take this lightly, and visit an eye doctor as it is only prescription medication that will treat the infection.
