Question
I developed a small red spot in my eye yesterday morning. I do not recall doing anything to my eye. I Always have low blood pressure when I see a doctor or donate blood. Everthing I have read about broken blood vessels in the eye say that it should go away on it's own in about 10 days. When I awoke this morning I noticed that the blood has spread a great deal. It doesn't hurt, but feels irritating like I have something in my eye. Should I be concerned?
Answer
I don't think you need to be concerned. The blood that leaks out of the blood vessel usually does spread out and move around after the initial event. Then it turns color - brown and yellow before going away. If the irritation is just mild, try putting artificial tears in for a day or two. If the irritation does not go away, OR if the vision is affected, you should see an eye doctor.
