Question
I had recent surgery on my left eye to remove a pterygium using conjunctival graft. I now have blurry vision in my left eye. The surgery was done on November 12, 2009. I removed the path after five days, and now on the 24 of November I still have blurry vision. I am able to see clearly though when I squint my eye. Also, when I was checked for the blurry vision yesterday at the doctors, I was given a cover with small holes in it to look through, and I WAS able to see the small print when looking through the holes. I had the same surgery using the same doctor and procedure on my right eye 5 years ago, and it was a success without any blurriness.
Have you heard of this complication?? Does it go away with time? if not, Is there a way to fix it through Lasik once the eye heals?
Answer
Dear Julie,
It may mean that you need to wear a different pair of spectacle powers or start wearing one to see more clearly.
If the healing is not complete, this may settle down as I am not sure of the extent of the treatment and if it was invoilving your visual field.
Pterygium usuallyis on the side of the eyes and starts grwoing towards the centre. In early cases, this growth is not over the coloured portion where one tends to then have visual symptoms.
Your treating doctor will be able to give you a clearer picture, but usually this is temporary if healing is still going on the surface treated.

Hope this helps,
