..visual acuity

Question
Sir/madam,

Am applying with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. One of their requirements is on visual acuity. To qualify one has to have Uncorrected visual acuity - at least 20/40 (6/12) binocularly (both eyes open)

Corrected visual acuity - at least 20/20 (6/6) binocularly. my dilemma is   Am not quiet sure on the difference between CORRECTED VISUAL ACUITY AND UNCORRECTED VISUAL ACUITY.Can you please expound on this. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Uma,

Uncorrected means the naked eye. Corrected means with accurate glasses or contact lenses.  Apparently you don't need to be concerned with each eye alone, but usually there is a requirement for each eye rather than both used together.  Both eyes open usually yields better vision than either eye alone.

Best of luck,
