I just went to an optometrist for an eye exam. He became very concerned about the pressure in my one eye. He strongly recommended that I see an ophthalmologist and made an appointment for me tomorrow.
In the past five years I have seen other optometrists who also detected the high pressure and did not recommend anything else be done.
I am glad he was so concerned, but I have no symptoms and other doctors did nothing about it.
Comments appreciated. Thanks

Don: The trouble is, glaucoma has no other symptoms until the vision is affected. Did you find out what your pressure was?

I met with the Ophthalmologist today and I am sure glad I did. He found the pressure so high he immediately used a laser to drill a hole in the eye. This sounds frightening, but it was not that bad. I will also have to have my other eye done in the future. This latest Optometrist save me from going blind.
Here is a warning to all who read this: Over four years I have seen two other Optometrists, both detected a higher than normal pressure in my one eye. Both failed to advise me of what that could mean and neither one recommended I see an Ophthalmologist. I had no idea that high pressure is a sign of glaucoma.
I strongly urge you to find out what your eye pressures are and make sure they are within range. As Torre has mentioned there are no symptoms until your vision is affected.

Good for you, Don. You were lucky. I have nothing but the highest praise for the optometrists that I have seen, but some posters have been less than happy with theirs.
