Question
Dear Dr Axelord
I have suffering from a very sever hyperopia form my childhood. Of course it was lower when I was a child. But now as I am a 33 year old woman. my vision is too low. I wear hard contact lens +20 and +21 in both eyes.
But even with these high dioptre my vision is still too low.
I have problem with the lenses. It is either with fitness or clarity. To solve the problem of fitness I use tight ones. Because of tightness of lens the oil and protein accumulate in lens and it become cloudy. But if I want to solve the problem of clarity with using a loose contact lens I end up with the problem of fitness. I mean with a loose lens the vision is clear but the lens moves and bother me. What I can do about it? I have used different lubricating drps and artificial tears drop but none of them help much. I ma really going to to be frustrated by this problem. what I can do?
Answer
Hi Maryam,
There is no easy answer for you. You need patience and repeat visits to your doctor. You didn't say you had any experience with soft lenses, but sometimes they can be better or even used in combination with a rigid lens called a piggyback fit. There is also a rigid lens with a soft lens material skirt surrounding it to help with fit and comfort. So all is not lost, you just need more fitting time. You may need to see a different doctor, but have a discussion with your doctor to find out about your options.
