Question
I have a yellowish or clear bump on the edge of the color part of my eyeball what is it and is it serious
Answer
A pinguecula is a raised, white or yellowish thickening of the conjunctiva which is the normally clear layer of skin which covers the white part of the eye.
Pingueculas occur more commonly with advancing age, are typically located on the conjuctiva on the nasal side of the iris, and may occasionally become inflammed.
Generally they do not cause visual loss, but can be removed surgically if they are cosmetically objectionable or prone to recurrent inflammation. UV protection and lubrication with artificial tears may minimize growth and inflammation.
